Torrijas are a Spanish-style french toast that has become a popular dessert menu item, it's a great way to combine one of the most iconic breakfast foods in America, with dessert.

  • 1/2 vanilla bean
  • 3 cinnamon sticks
  • 2 eggs
  • zest from 1 lemon
  • 1/4 Cup of rum
  • Brioche, Baguette or Challah (any bread good for french toast)
  • 1 Cup sugar
  • 4 Ounces butter
